How we allocate the research budget

We invest across five focus areas. Amounts are planning envelopes for FY 2025–26 (unused funds roll to the next semester).

  • Foster care, reunification, & child well-being — 28%
Case studies, trauma-informed resources, court process mapping, reunification documentation.

  • Theology & practical ministry — 22%
Biblical studies, Spearael™ methods, curriculum for pastoral care, evaluation of ministry practices.

  • Open educational resources (children & caregivers) — 18%
Free lesson plans, children’s books, caregiver guides, digital downloads, accessibility.

  • African American studies — 16%
Historical/modern analyses, faith & community resilience, archives and oral histories.

  • Human rights — 16%
Advocacy research, policy briefs, data standards for privacy/safeguarding, ethical reviews.

Annual budget: $80,000 → per-semester envelope: $20,000.
