FY 2025-2026
How we allocate the research budget
We invest across five focus areas. Amounts are planning envelopes for FY 2025–26 (unused funds roll to the next semester).

Foster care, reunification, & child well-being — 28%
Case studies, trauma-informed resources, court process mapping, reunification documentation. -
Theology & practical ministry — 22%
Biblical studies, Spearael™ methods, curriculum for pastoral care, evaluation of ministry practices. -
Open educational resources (children & caregivers) — 18%
Free lesson plans, children’s books, caregiver guides, digital downloads, accessibility. -
African American studies — 16%
Historical/modern analyses, faith & community resilience, archives and oral histories. -
Human rights — 16%
Advocacy research, policy briefs, data standards for privacy/safeguarding, ethical reviews.
Annual budget: $80,000 → per-semester envelope: $20,000.
Rollover: unspent amounts flow forward to protect project continuity.

Allocation model

Total annual research budget: $80,000 (self-funded; no public/government funds).

Four semesters per year: $20,000 each.

Rollover policy: Any unspent funds roll forward to the next semester to ensure continuity or they are donated to one of our charities or organizations.

Rebalancing: Trustees may reallocate between semesters to meet mission-critical needs.
What the budget supports

Research & data work: study design, interviews/fieldwork, transcription, analysis, data security.

Prophetic Depository & repositories: documentation, DOI fees, platform costs (Dataverse/Zenodo/GitHub).

Publishing & open resources: editing, design/illustration, layout, OA fees, ebook/print setup.

Safeguarding & ethics: privacy protections, redaction, partner IRB/ethics reviews when applicable.

Training & programs: course development, practicums, small stipends/honoraria.

Tools & infrastructure: software, licenses, storage, backups.

Travel (as needed): field visits, reunification documentation, partner meetings.

Contingency: modest reserve for unforeseen project needs.
Collaboration policy
CBCM is a private trust and does not accept general applications for funding. When work clearly aligns with our mission, we may extend invitation-only collaborations or microgrants through TSOZA.
